Ha, well I never really expect stuff like this to be free, so it didn't occur to me to mention pricing at the beginning. I mostly want to know how well it does the job it claims to do. But good point... with future videos I can at least have a short mention or text on screen with the price but go into the details of that towards the end.

Yep. It works great. I used it here through the laptop because I have a single-device licence assigned to my laptop, and it shows the full functionality of the Pencil being supported really well.

Yep. Works fine. But like I said in the video, it is a bit small and I do recommend going with something a little bit bigger if you can

It probably depends on your needs. IN the long term, it's likely to get the same duration of software updates. I don't see why it wouldn't hold up for a few years if you're managing storage well and keeping it free of unnecessary apps. I'm enjoying the FE so far. It's been great to draw on, and read while i'm on the plane, etc. I wouldnt use it for games, but for drawing, it's been fine. I'd probably still leave more serious high-res painting for the laptop

Might be worth looking at the new One Plus Pad 2 as well. Haven't tested it myself, and the pen doesn't seem excellent, but not bad performance I think from the reviews I've seen

Now... how are we going to go about getting into a habit of drawing and painting more? ;-) Maybe try jumping on a canvas with friends in Magma? I think when you're doing it with other people people, you're more inclined to draw more

Hm... actually... I wonder how the Tab S6 Lite handles Magma these days. It can be a bit heavy on resources for entry-level devices.

Nice. Well yeah, the Tab S6 Lite could be the option if you are just looking for something for light/casual drawing, though you can do more finished work provided you aren't working too big and keep your number of layers under control. I saw someone recently picked one up on Amazon (2024 model) for $210 which is nuts. I'm currently using the Tab S9FE and very happy with it. Gives you a slightly bigger and higher res screen with a bump in performance and RAM

Hey. I didn't have trouble installing the drivers. I used driver version 6.1.7-3 (Windows XP, Vista, & 7) from 9/13/2011, on a Windows 10 machine. I know some people had issues with older tablets working on Windows 11. Do you have any other tablet drivers installed that might be causing conflicts? If so, it would be good to remove those first, reboot, and then install the Wacom driver.

@@EyekooDrawsStuff hey thanks for the reply, I managed to do it but it wasn't easy, I tried like 10 versions of drivers that didnt work, but I found a guy on reddit that had a similar problem (he had a gd-0608-r) I had to use Windows compatibility tool and run a specific version of the driver (6.1.0-6. set for compatibility on windows 2000 (for drivers) then run the installation again set for xp (for the app), I think the main problem is just windows 10 doesn't expect serial devices anymore and the new installer just didn't work, the tablet works perfectly now, the only problem it has now is that it makes the cursor huge when you select modes or click any of the buttons which I just find kinda funny.

Hey there. Great stuff. I'm sure the tablet will serve you well as you start your digital art journey. To answer your question... No, a screen protector is not necessary here. The tips of the S Pen are rubber and a screen protector might wear that down too quickly. Also, the rubber tip on glass already has a nice resistance. It doesn't feel like a pencil on paper... It's definitely different, but you still have good control. That extra control is often why people will get a screen protector but with the Tab S6 Lite, you don't need it.

Yeah, this is one of those older models that a couple of brands have used that I'm not too confident in the long-term durability of it. I think for just getting started it would be fine but something I'd expect needs replacing in the short term. If someone wants to buy one device that will last a decade, then definitely agree that the Intuos (especially one of the older Pro models or the Intuos 3) is the way to go.

@@EyekooDrawsStuff for sure. my intuos i got 7 years ago is a work horse and way more premium. even the quality of the plastic is noticeably better than a comparably priced tablet nowadays

Go with the S9 FE if your budget allows for it. You'll get better performance, slightly bigger and higher resolution screen, and more RAM even on the 128GB version. That's what I have here now :-)

For iPad to pair with Mac, SideCar but as far as I know, it's not good enough for drawing

No. This does not support Human pens. I have a review up on my website of the Magic Drawing Pad which would be a much better choice than the Kamvas Slate 10, but it does cost more

Hm... that is a tricky decision. I think that in terms of what you will be able to create, it really doesn't matter which one you go for.. both options could serve you well. I have another video on screen versus screenless tablets, and I think the decision is going to be largely a personal preference thing. I find my posture is better with a screenless tablet and that is definitely an important consideration if you're going to be sitting for hours working at your desk. But for some people, working with a display tablet on a monitor arm or a good stand gives them a comfortable enough drawing angle where they aren't straining their neck. Because you have used an iPad before, you might find drawing with a screenless tablet to be pretty awkward at first (which is totally normal). So switching between iPad and Cintiq might feel much smoother for you (but the Cintiq doesn't have multitouch like you'll be used to on the iPad)

Nice! Which XPPEN tablet are you using and what model of Wacom did you find? I have a few reviews of older Wacom tablets on the channel.

The one I got is the xp pen artist 15.6 pro. And the one I recently bought at an auction is the intuos 5 large. I never bring them with me so the size was fine. I tried out the wacom yesterday and the feel of drawing on it was so much nicer. I know in comparison the pen pressure is way higher on the xp pen but the wacom pen felt much better in my hand. The resale price of the xp is about 200 usd here where I live. And since I don't actually notice the difference in pen pressure I was thinking of switching until a cheap upgrade could be made. 😊

@@shobaelizabethantony6706 No. Sketchbook only supports their own .skbrushes format, so brushes from Photoshop and Procreate won't work

Clip Studio Paint supports .ABR files so that might be the way to go

Haha, yeah. Time will tell with some of these newer tablets, but I guess as the tech gets more complex, there are more possibilities for things to bug out, deteriorate, or detach completely.

Right! I feel the same about the bezels on the side. I actually really liked that about the Intuos 3 for example. Hitting the smaller elements along the edges of the display can get a bit tricky sometimes with the newer tablets.

Well, Krita is free and very good. Blender is free if you want to do 3D modeling. Clip Studio Paint is a popular choice that often goes on sale but you can also get 3 month trial on computer. Plenty of tutorials on RUclips for these. Magma is freemium and browser-based so you don't have to download anything.

Sure. You'll be much more comfortable with a pen than a mouse. Both Huion and XPPEN have affordable display options. If you want the multi-touch functionality, you might want to look into the Wacom One 13 Touch. It's a bit more of a spend because of that multitouch support. Here's my review of it: drawyourweapon.com/tablet-review-wacom-one-13-touch/ (still need to make a video) One thing I point out in that review is that it might even make more sense to get a standalone tablet but it really depends on your situation.

@@EyekooDrawsStuff yeah might get a standalone tablet cause it will come more natrually. I have a smaller screenless tablet but I can't seem to get used to it.

@@NAYOBULL understandable...it can take quite some time to get used to. Some things to keep in mind - a pen display that connects to your computer: you can get bigger screen for the same price you'd spend on a standalone tablet like an iPad. - iPad and galaxy tab will be limited in size. Bigger sizes cost a lot. - iPad and galaxy tab will need additional software to use as a drawing tablet with computer. - if you want to work in Blender it's probably better to get a regular pen display. You can get iPad but then need Astropad to customize properly for blender. This is an additional cost to consider. - if you go with Galaxy Tab, you cannot customize the pen button for what it does on your computer. - if you don't need compact portability of standalone tablet, rather go with regular pen display like Wacom One or XPPEN Artist series

Oh, of course the normal Tab S9 model is a better route. But for the more budget-conscious artist on the move, they might not want to spend that much more initially.

What version of PS are you using? Do the gestures work in other applications? Try Clip Studio Paint, or Magma in your browser.
